Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)

The objectives of the undergraduate Civil Engineering Programme are to provide an environment in which:

(1) To develop graduates with competence in the field of civil engineering, as demonstrated through career advancement and leadership in practice or research, and in other fields they choose to pursue.
培養具有土木工程知識領域能力的畢業生,通過職業發展和實踐或研究中的領導才能證明,以及他們選擇追求的其他領域的能力;

(2) To prepare graduates in the general areas of logical analysis, critical thinking, rational design, and ethical engineering practice.
為邏輯分析,批判性思維,合理設計和道德工程實踐等一般領域的畢業生做好準備;

(3) To prepare graduates for advanced education in civil engineering and related fields.
為畢業生準備進入土木工程及相關領域的高等教育做好準備。

 

Programme Outcomes (PO)

The undergraduate Civil Engineering Programme in the University of Macau will demonstrate that their graduates attain the following outcomes:

(a) an ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering appropriate to the degree discipline
(b) an ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyse and interpret data
(c) an ability to design a system, component or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints, such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability
(d) an ability to function on multi-disciplinary teams
(e) an ability to identify, formulate and solve engineering problems
(f) an ability to understand professional and ethical responsibility
(g) an ability to communicate effectively
(h) an ability to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global and societal context, especially the importance of health, safety and environmental considerations to both workers and the general public
(i) an ability to stay abreast of contemporary issues
(j) an ability to recognise the need for, and to engage in life-long learning
(k) an ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice appropriate to the degree discipline
(l) an ability to use the computer/IT tools relevant to the discipline along with an understanding of their processes and limitations
