In 2023, he left Ant Group to found AutoArk, focusing on smart city development, which quickly gained industry recognition.

Sio Hon Pan is the Curator of the Macao Science Museum, having graduated from UM with a bachelor’s degree and holding multiple professional qualifications. He has managed several significant large venues in Macao and has actively promoted science education activities to improve public scientific literacy.

Two decades ago, Ken Cheong was a year one student who just started his studies of electromechanical engineering at FST, with limited knowledge about the field. Today, Cheong holds the positions of co-founder, chairman, and CEO in a listed engineering company, demonstrating the growth and leadership potential for aspiring engineers.

Dr Thomas Cheang is an UM alumnus, who completed his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral studies at UM. He is currently a senior engineer at the Companhia de Electricidade de Macau (CEM), the city’s only electric power utility company. ‘Thanks to the education I received at UM, I have been able to make a contribution to the community with my professional knowledge.’ says Cheang.

Macao has thrived over the past 20 years since its handover to China in 1999, when Prof Elvis Mak Pui In began his journey studying and researching microchips at the University of Macau (UM). An internationally acclaimed expert in integrated circuits, Prof Mak was the first Macao native to be elected a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. ‘UM gives me great opportunities to study subjects of my interest, for which I am most grateful,’ he says.
澳門回歸20年,恰好是麥沛然在澳門大學學習和研究芯片的20年。他在1999年入讀澳大,今日已是國際頂尖的集成電路領域專家,更是首位澳門土生土長的國際電機電子工程師學會會士。「感激澳大給予我這麼大的研究空間,讓我實踐感興趣的事情。」
Alumnus Chan Keng Lim spent 15 years at UM completing his foundation studies, bachelor’s degree, postgraduate certificate in education, master’s degree, and doctoral degree. The university has accompanied him in his growth from a young student to a teacher, and he is grateful to his alma mater. He says: ‘The most important thing UM has taught me is the true meaning of education – to be a light to students.’
