DPC organized a series of visits and scientific talks in the local secondary schools in December 2020. The purpose for this outreach to the local schools is to foster the communication with local secondary schools, which would benefit the future work in popularizing science and technology among youngsters in Macao.
Prof. Hui PAN, head of the Department of Physics and Chemistry, leading a group of DPC representatives: Prof. Kar Wei NG, Prof. Bingpu ZHOU, Dr. Matthew FENG and Mr. Roy LEONG, have visited four local secondary schools, including Pui Ching Middle School Macau(澳門培正中學), Saint Paul School Macau(聖保祿學校), Instituto Salesiano(慈幼中學) and Escola Choi Nong Chi Tai(菜農子弟學校). During the visits, the professors introduced the Department of Physics and Chemistry to the teachers, and discussed on needs and the possibility of future collaboration.
Meanwhile, a series of inspiring scientific talks were given to the students in several schools in Macao. Prof. Kar Wei NG, Prof. Yongqing CAI, Prof. Guoxing SUN and Prof. Haifeng LI had prepared four interesting topics and presented in Yuet Wah College, Keang Peng School, Pui Ching Middle School Macau and Sacred Heart Canossian College respectively. These talks were well received and the students were fascinated the science from the talks.
