Prof. Hui ZHANG from the School of Transportation Science and Engineering at Beihang University, gave a talk entitled ‘Model-based Control and Estimation for Vehicular Applications’ at the Faculty of Science and Technology on 25 October 2019 (Friday). At the seminar, Prof. Hui ZHANG, shared his latest research results in the fields of control and estimation work for vehicular applications. Given the non-linearity involved in vehicle and engine dynamics, it is challenging to design vehicular controllers and estimators with model-based control theory. In his talk, the linear-parameter-varying (LPV) approach is used to deal with the non-linearity for vehicular system analysis and the robust control scheme is employed to assist the controllers/estimators design. The vehicular applications cover CAN-based 4-wheel-independently-drive electric vehicles, diesel-engine after treatment systems, and autonomous vehicles.
