From August 23 to 25, the Second Hainan Free Trade Port International Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Forum and Deep-Sea Science and Technology Innovation Conference, featuring a parallel forum titled “Marine Technological Innovation for Sustainable Development Goals by 2030,” will be held in Yacheng Bay Science and Technology City, Sanya, Hainan.
Officials from UNESCO, UNEP, and the British Embassy and Consulates in China, as well as experts, scholars, and business representatives from 21 countries and regions including China, the UK, Germany, South Korea, Japan, and Thailand, will deliver speeches on topics such as marine technological innovation and sustainable development, blue carbon science and policy, coastal wetland protection and restoration, and the sustainable development of tropical islands.
During the forum, there will also be a seminar on ocean sustainable development from the perspective of the UN’s ‘Decade of Science’, and a Sino-British dialogue themed “Facing Climate and Human Challenges: The Future Path for Coastal Wetlands.” Additionally, the author teams of the two chapters on marine plants and seagrass beds from the UN’s third global ocean assessment will be invited to discuss the current state and challenges faced by marine plants and seagrass beds.
It is reported that during the parallel forum, a signing ceremony for cooperation agreements between Hainan University, the University of Plymouth (UK), Prince of Songkla University (Thailand), and Universiti Sains Malaysia will take place. A plaque unveiling will also occur for the Hainan University-Universiti Sains Malaysia Seagrass Bed and Blue Carbon Field Research Station. Furthermore, the forum will witness the establishment ceremony for the academic committee of the Hainan Provincial Engineering Research Center for Blue Carbon and Coastal Wetland Protection and Restoration, and the Hainan Provincial International Joint Research Center for Blue Carbon and Coastal Wetland.
This parallel forum is co-hosted by Hainan University, UNESCO’s East Asia Office, and the University of Macau, aiming to deepen international scientific cooperation, promote global marine technological innovation and sustainable development in the marine sector, contributing to the realization of the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The second Hainan Free Trade Port International Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Forum and Deep Sea Technology Innovation Conference (2024) is jointly organized by the Hainan Provincial Department of Science and Technology, the Chinese 21st Century Agenda Management Center, the Sanya Municipal Government, UNESCO, and the Hainan Provincial Ocean Bureau. It features an opening ceremony, main forum, nine parallel thematic forums, and five parallel activities.

8月23日至25日,第二屆海南自貿港國際科技創新合作論壇暨深海技術創新大會之“面向2030可持續發展目標的海洋科技創新”平行論壇將在海南三亞崖州灣科技城舉行。
來自聯合國教科文組織(UNESCO)、聯合國環境規劃署(UNEP)、英國駐華使領館的官員,以及中國、英國、德國、韓國、日本、泰國等21個國家和地區的專家學者、企業代表,將圍繞海洋科技創新與可持續發展、藍碳科學與政策、濱海濕地保護與修復、熱帶海島可持續發展等話題發表演講。
論壇期間還將舉辦“聯合國‘科學十年’視角下的海洋可持續發展研討會”和以“應對氣候與人類挑戰:濱海濕地的未來之路”為主題的中英對話,並邀請聯合國第三次全球海洋評估中海洋植物和海草床兩個章節作者團隊到場,共議海洋植物和海草床的現狀及其面臨的挑戰。
據介紹,平行論壇期間舉行海南大學與英國普利茅斯大學、泰國宋卡王子大學、馬來西亞理科大學的合作協議簽署儀式,並為海南大學——馬來西亞理科大學海草床和藍碳野外研究站揭牌。此外,論壇還將舉行藍碳與濱海濕地保護修復海南省工程研究中心和藍碳與濱海濕地海南省國際聯合研究中心學術委員會的成立儀式。
本次平行論壇由海南大學、聯合國教科文組織(UNESCO)東亞地區辦事處和澳門大學主辦,海南大學海洋科學與工程學院、藍碳與濱海濕地保護修復海南省工程研究中心和藍碳與濱海濕地海南省國際聯合研究中心承辦,旨在深化國際科技合作,推動全球海洋科技創新和海洋領域可持續發展,助力實現聯合國2030可持續發展目標。
第二屆海南自貿港國際科技創新合作論壇暨深海技術創新大會(2024)由海南省科學技術廳、中國21世紀議程管理中心、三亞市人民政府、聯合國教科文組織(UNESCO)、海南省海洋廳聯合主辦,期間舉辦開幕式和主論壇,以及9場平行專題論壇和5場平行活動。
