UM team stood out in the fourth “Greater Bay Area Cup” Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Financial Mathematics Modeling Competition held in 2023 and won the first prize among a total of 1,147 teams from domestic and international universities. The competition aims to foster innovative research in the application of mathematical modeling in finance, promote the integration of digital finance, digital currency, and smart finance with traditional financial investment, and encourage interdisciplinary innovation between mathematics and finance, nurturing and discovering innovative talents in financial technology with an international perspective.
The competition jointly organized by Guangdong Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Center for Applied Mathematics, and others, Under the guidance of Prof Liu Zhi from the Department of Mathematics of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), a team of undergraduates students, comprised of Gong Jinqi from FST majoring in Statistics and Data Science, Wang Chen from the Faculty of Education majoring in Mathematics Education, and Choi Wan Ioi from FST majoring in Applied Mathematics, successfully won the first prize in the fierce competition. In the finals, they succeeded through two rounds of oral defenses, won the championship for Question B, and became the overall runners-up. With their innovative thinking, they were awarded the special prize – the Silver Medal for Innovation (with a winning rate of 0.17%). The other team consisting of Yang Yishu (majoring in SDS), Zhou Zijun (majoring in Economics) and Chen Zhaowei (majoring in Economics) also receives the third prize.
Gong Jinqi, as the only student representative to receive an award in the competition, was invited by the organizing committee to deliver an acceptance speech at the award ceremony and share the experience of the competition, promoting the talents and capabilities of students from UM, as well as expressing gratitude to Prof Liu Zhi, the team, family, and friends for their guidance and support. All three team members expressed that this competition not only enhanced their professional skills but also provided them with the skills of teamwork and innovative thinking. In the future, they will be motivated by this award to continuously improve and expand their professional knowledge, seek innovative breakthroughs, and contribute to the development of the University of Macau, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and even the country.
澳門大學團隊於2023第四屆「大灣區杯」粵港澳金融數學建模競賽中脫穎而出,與海內外共1,147支高校隊伍較量下,奪得一等獎。比賽旨在開啟數學建模方法在金融領域的創新研究,促進數字金融、數字貨幣和智能金融與傳統金融投資領域的融合發展,鼓勵數學和金融領域的交叉滲透和原始創新,培養及挖掘金融科技方向的具有國際視野的量化投資創新人才。
比賽由廣東省工業與應用數學學會、粵港澳國家應用數學中心等聯合舉辦,在澳大科技學院數學系劉志的指導下,三名本科生組成的隊伍包括數學系統計與數據科學龔近琦、教育學院數學教育王宸及科技學院數學系應用數學蔡昀叡,成功在激烈的角逐下奪得一等獎。並在決賽中,歷經兩輪答辯,奪得B題冠軍及賽事總亞軍,並憑借創新思維榮獲特別獎項-創新銀獎(獲獎率為0.17%)。另外一組隊伍由統計與數據科學專業學生楊宜樹,社會科學學院經濟學專業周子鈞,陳昭維組成,榮獲三等獎。
澳門大學龔近琦作為大賽唯一學生獲獎代表,獲組委會邀請在頒獎典禮上發表獲獎感言,並分享此次比賽經歷,宣傳了澳大學子的才華和實力,同時表達對指導老師劉志教授、團隊、家人及朋友的感謝。三位團隊成員皆表示,是次比賽不僅提升了他們的專業水平,也掌握了團隊合作和創新思維的技巧。未來將以此次獲獎為動力,不斷精進和拓展專業知識,尋求創新突破,為澳門大學、粵港澳大灣區乃至國家發展貢獻力量。
