General Introduction
Siu Yin Wai is a born and bred native of Macau. After his completion of secondary school in Macau, he continued to further his education and develop his career in Canada. He returned to Hong Kong in the early eighties to establish the structural and civil engineering firm of Siu Yin Wai and Associates Limited (“Siu Yin Wai & Associates”).
In the ensuing thirty years, Siu Yin Wai & Associates has been behind many of the most celebrated residential and commercial developments in Macau and Hong Kong. In Macau, these include One Central壹號湖畔, the Mandarin Oriental文華東方酒店, and the MGM Hotel and Casino美高梅酒店及娛樂場. While in Hong Kong, high-profile projects extend from the Residence Bel-Air貝沙灣 (Cyberport數碼港), Park Island珀麗灣 (Ma Wan Island), to MegaBox企業廣場五期 and countless others. Current large-scale projects in Macau also include Phase Two of the MGM Hotel in Cotai路氹美高梅酒店及娛樂場, One Oasis金峰南岸, and many more.
The firm has been awarded numerous international prizes over the years, among them Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) Joint Structural Division (JSD) Awards for outstanding structure. Siu Yin Wai & Associates remarkable track record distinguishes themselves as the preeminent engineering consulting firm in Hong Kong and Macau.

High Construction Cost in Hong Kong : Issues for Review (2003)
Being invited by the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong (REDA) in 2003, a review was carried out to the current Building Ordinance’s practice on reducing the high construction cost in Hong Kong.
Stress and Strain on an H-pile during Driving
(Published in Hong Kong Engineer issue June 1982)
The paper reports the on-site stress and strain measurements on an H-pile during driving. It also compares the stresses obtained from site measurements, wave equation and Hiley Formula.
