Prof. Chi Tat Kwok graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Engineering Physics in 1993 in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and then worked in the industry as Electronic Engineer for a while before returning to the Hong Kong Polytechnic University to pursue his academic research interest. He obtained his MSc and Ph.D. degree in Applied Physics in 1996 and 1999 respectively. He joined the University of Macau as Assistant Professor in 2000 and was promoted to Associate Professor and Professor in 2007 and 2020 respectively in the Department of Electromechanical Engineering. He has served as the Department Head during the academic years 2013-2014, 2015-2016 (second semester), 2016-present, and the Interim (Founder) Director of Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering during 2014-2015, 2015-2016 (first semester). He also has been appointed as the Joint Associate Professor of the institute at the University of Macau since 2014. Prof. Kwok’s research interests are in corrosion, cavitation erosion, wear of materials, laser surface engineering, friction stir processing and electrophoretic deposition of hydroxyapatite coatings. He has published more than 70 SCI journal papers with a Google Scholar H-index 34, Scopus H-index 31 and Web of Science H-index 31. His research work has been widely cited. According to ISI Web of Science, he is ranked among the top 3 authors in the world in the research area of Cavitation Erosion and Laser Surface Modification.
