- Format: Written examination (closed-book)
- Time allowed: 3 hours
- Total score: 100 marks
- Passing score: 50 marks
General Rules
- The exam paper consists of two sections, namely Section 1 – Fundamental Stream and Section 2 – Specialized Streams.
- Students need to answer FIVE questions on the examination paper.
- Students are required to answer ONE question in Fundamental Stream and FOUR questions in Specialized Streams.
- In section 2, students are required to answer AT LEAST ONE question from ANY TWO specialized streams.
Exam retake policy
- If a student fails the exam for the first time, he or she will be required to retake it according to the designated schedule.
- If the student fails the examination a second time, he or she will be discontinued from the PhD programme.
