The
Electric Power Engineering Laboratory, formerly named as Power Electronics Laboratory of the Department of Electrical and
Computer Engineering, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), University of Macau (UM), was established in 1999. It is the first of its kind in Macao, and its research and development directions are to integrate teaching with research and to apply research achievements that reach international standards to the society.
The research group of the Laboratory is led by Prof. Han Ying Duo, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The Laboratory has already supported the graduation of
4 Ph.D., 15 Master’s students. At present, 10 Ph.D. and Master’s students are conducting research on power quality compensators, novel electric traction supply system, soft switching, integrated power electronics controller and battery management system, etc..
During the past
decade, the laboratory has received great supports from FST/UM, Research Committee of UM and Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) of the Macao SAR Government. We would also like to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude.
The
laboratory has published more than 30 papers in international
refereed journals such as IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics,
IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, IET Power Electronics, etc.; 10
papers in important journals on the Mainland; and over 80 papers in
international and regional conferences. The research group of the
Laboratory has received many research awards and outstanding paper
awards. 5 Chinese and 1 US patents are also granted.
Ten years is not a long time, the Laboratory starts from scratch and keeps on moving. We hope by the efforts of all the colleagues, Power Electronics Laboratory will have a brighter future.
